Pea Souk Vegetarian Restaurant - Falmouth
A short walk from Captain White's Reward, this Vegetarian Cafe offers a great choice on its ever changing, freshly prepared menu
The Royal Standard Pub - Flushing
A short ferry ride over to Flushing gives you the choice of a couple of pubs. The Royal Standard is small with smart decor and a nice menu.
Mylor
You could either catch a ferry, or water taxi around to Mylor. However, it is perfect walk. Just get the ferry across to Flushing and then walk to the right, around the headland coastal path and you arrive in Mylor Harbour in around 30-40 minutes. Mylor is popular with the yachting set, but also has a beautiful church and couple of small restaurants and bars. Castaways Wine Bar & Restaurant offers a nice menu and there is also a more formal Seafood restaurant: www.castawayswinebar.co.uk
Tresanton Hotel & Restaurant - St Mawes
A Ferry, or Water Taxi ride over to St Mawes, takes you to Olga Polizzi's style icon. A wonderful experience, with superb food, service and views. Not cheap, but perfect for a treat. Reservations are essential: www.tresanton.com
Oliver's Restaurant - Falmouth
The decor is simple, but look beyond that - the food is amazing. Inventive brasserie cuisine, well presented and wonderful, friendly staff. Good news is that it only a 5 minute walk from Captain White's Reward: www.oliversfalmouth.com
Harbour Lights Fish & Chips - Falmouth
The best in the area, offering both a restaurant and take away service. There is also a strong environmental policy with sustainable fishing and recyclable packaging: www.harbourlights.co.uk
The Wheel House Restaurant - Falmouth
Simple formula and wonderful. This seafood restaurant offers a choice of just mussels, crabs, scallops and prawns (occasionally lobster and oysters), with just salad and fried to accompany. The Wine List is red, or white and decor is equally as stripped back. A real find and worth a visit. Ensure you book well in advance. Upton Slip, 01326 318 050
Dolly's Tea Room & Wine Bar - Falmouth
Oozing with character, Dolly's is a wonderful tea room by day and then transforms into a super wine bar and gin palace at night. Cocktails are served in tea pots and china, they have an extensive specialist Gin selection (over 50 types to choose from) and there is an accompanying tapas menu (which is delicious). There are also themed nights, run by the colourful owners and music on weekend nights (vey good guitarist/singer, with an eclectic range). Dolly's is dog friendly and Hebe, the pearl wearing labrador is very friendly: www.dollysbar.co.uk

Supermarkets & Food Shops
The closest decent supermarket is Sainsburys, which is on Ponsharden and approximately a 15 minute walk (or 5 minutes in a car). There is also a Marks & Spencer with a small Foodhall in the town centre (10 minute walk). There is a Tesco Metro in the town centre as well (just off the main square). The Natural Store (www.naturalstorecornwall.co.uk) on the High Street is also good for organic and deli items.
Falmouth Ferries
The perfect way to explore the area year round. Ferry services run to St Mawes, Truro, the Helford River, Flushing, Place Creek etc...: www.falriver.co.uk

Welcome to our home
We have created this Blog to help you get the most out of your time in and around Falmouth. As we discover new things to see and do in the area, we will add them in. Of course, we'd also love to hear from you, if you discover anything that you would like to share with future guests, so everyone can get the most out of their Cornwall Adventure. We have also made Captain White's Reward a sanctuary where we hope you can relax and enjoy the time away from your "regular life".
